The HR Business Partner aligns business objectives with employees and management in designated functional areas within Wolverine Worldwide. This includes employee engagement, employee relations, HR processes, compliance, total rewards, and talent planning.  In addition, the HR Business Partner provides support to HR leadership and assists with project management, and program development.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Partners with assigned business units and provides guidance and input on all aspects of HR, including organizational structure, talent reviews, and succession planning. Develops and leads HR and business solutions in collaboration with the HR leadership.  Assists with various analysis, research and special projects.  Provides day-to-day talent management guidance to management and employees (e.g., coaching, counselling, career development, disciplinary actions). Acts as a connection between management and employees in matters of employee relations, talent management, learning and development, talent acquisition and total rewards. Supports the administration of HR policies and programs for the assigned facility or functional group to ensure company policies are administered fairly and consistently. Uses and provides assistance in the usage of human resource systems and tools for talent management, performance management, reporting and staffing. Responsible for identifying training needs and working in partnership with the Learning & Organizational Development team to implement impactful learning and development. Acts as the first point of contact for employee and HR related requests and questions. Coordinates hourly and salaried hiring practices to ensure appropriate staffing levels are achieved with qualified and engaged individuals.  Assists with pre-screening and interviewing process.  Partners with leaders to support onboarding process for new or transferred employees and off-boarding. Performs duties consistent with the company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies. Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in related HR field.  Specialized HR Certifications such as PHR or SPHR preferred

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in human resources

  • Knowledge of federal/country and state/province employment laws/regulations

  • Previous HRIS systems experience such as Peoplesoft a plus

  • Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage conflict and escalate when necessary

  • Strong relationship-building & team collaboration skills

  • Ability to coach and counsel employees and leadership

  • Tenacious and adaptable, demonstrating resiliency through challenging situations

  • Ability to prioritize tasks

  • Successfully navigates a fast-paced and ever-changing environment

  • Strong business acumen including ability to balance business needs with organizational expectations

  • Ability to creatively problem solve with an understanding of short and long-term decision impact

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office environment.  Minimal travel required.
