The VP Commercial Operations sets the direction and ensures the alignment of the enterprise commercial strategy. This role is accountable for portfolio commercial partnership and sales planning operations. This leader will align brand direction to annual operating plans across the omni marketplace by steering alignment and supporting execution from account management, sales planning and in-market/field teams. The role will drive Wolverine Worldwide’s partnership management (EPM) for all enterprise key wholesale accounts and owned market commercial partners. This role leads the sales/channel planning team and is responsible for driving modern channel and account planning, including the development and oversight of trade terms and partnership agreements. The role partners across brands and cross-functional counterparts to drive enterprise thinking and commercial operations.

Primary Duties:

  • Partners with the group presidents as a leadership team member to develop enterprise wholesale growth vision and key partner market share gain in support of our brand’s strategies and financial goals.
  • Manages seasonal and annual channel/sales planning, forecasting and target-setting roll-ups for the company’s owned markets.
  • Integrates the strategic positioning of the value and online platform channels to the larger commercial strategy. Supports the value and online platform teams in the channel planning within each of the brands.
  • Drives best-in-industry key account partnership modeling; builds strong and sustainable trade term models, leading omni-retail agreements, and materially impactful programs with key partners.
  • Effective and frequent communication and partnership with brand sales and channel leadership.
  • Maintains positive open lines of communication with all of brand and corporate management, staff and other departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization.
  • Aligns, influences and supports sales organizations in achieving enterprise partner financial  goals and growth targets.
  • Collaborates with all departments and brands to ensures commercial organizational design, talent and capabilities align and guide the long-term build of a modern commercial function.
  • Provides ongoing and consistent feedback to collaborative functions on processes and engagement.
  • Deep understanding of key retail partner sales, margin and turn requirements.
  • Performs duties consistent with the Company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies.
  • Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or equivalent work experience. MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 12+ years sales and/or planning experience in retail and/or consumer branded products, preferably in footwear and apparel accessories/equipment
  • Exceptional leadership skills with at least 8 years at Director level, with the ability to inspire and set an all-encompassing commercial vision
  • Experience working directly with national/global retail partners is required
  • Strong sales, commercial and finance background with a variety of commercial concepts, processes and experiences
  • A proven and savvy partnership-oriented leader, with exceptional market knowledge
  • A proven ability to drive commercial strategies that deliver against both financial and brand objectives
  • Experience leading, collaborating and influencing cross functional teams to drive global brand growth efforts
  • Knowledge of managing with and within budgetary responsibilities to deliver both top-and bottom-line targets
  • Sound understanding of the consumer, retail environment, and competitive marketplace
  • Understanding of sales planning and demand planning, its impact, and role in the future of the business

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment.  Frequent travel required.
