To lead one of the two European Credit teams managing up to 4 direct reports with overall responsibility covering multiple ledgers.· Responsible for up to 1500 wholesale customers at any one time whilst assessing the risk to the company through operating on credit terms.
· Oversee the accounts receivable process and supervise the Credit Control team by way of providing guidance on day-to-day issues and ensuring prompt and efficient collection of amounts due, resulting in the maximisation of sales and reduction of debtor days whilst being mindful of commercial revenue vs risk considerations
1. Support and develop the team of credit controllers under your responsibility. Ensure they are protecting the company assets by converting Wolverine accounts receivable into cash.
2. Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service and Brand teams to maximise collections, reduce risk and educate the respective departments on evidenced decisions we take.
3. Manage the recruitment, training, performance and personal development of a team fluent in several common European languages across multiple currencies.
4. Weekly team ledger reviews and 1:1s. Drive positive reiteration of individual role in being proactive in approach, escalating and working to collaborate to find quick solutions to problems all to build relations and to enhance chances of team members achieving monthly collection targets.
5. Support the wider business on ad hoc projects, acquisitions and business model changes as they arise.
6. Report to Credit Director on team’s debtor position on a monthly basis – review of past team target, current past due, exceeded credit limits, held orders, etc. Identify greatest areas of risk and concern, mitigating action(s) to protect against default.
7. Work with Credit Analysis Supervisor to ensure all credit limits under your remit are up to date and in line with current policies. Ensure maximum credit insurance cover is granted to all accounts in your regions utilizing all other tools available. All insurance claims reported and claimed in accordance with deadlines.
8. Accounts to be sent to debt collection identified at the earliest ensuring positive chance of successful outcome. All efforts internally exhausted, Country Managers actively included and involved in final decision.
9. Monthly review of team’s bad debt categorisation in line with appropriate risk
10. Work towards continual improvement in business and accounting processes and efficiencies.
11. To ensure compliance with the company credit policy, business processes and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
12. Represent Credit at meetings with Senior Management, Credit Circles and regularly feedback to the Credit team.
13. Continuously work with the Internal Audit team to ensure an effective compliance and governance process and monitor progress as well as risks/issues.
14. Any other duties as reasonably required.
